چکیده

Colonies of Trioxys pallidus Haliday (Hymenoptera: Aphidiidae) were collected from California walnut orchards during 1985-86 and screened for variability of responses to azinphosmethyl. Variability was found and laboratory selection was initiated with four colonies. All colonies responded to selection; after 7 to 12 selections, three colonies were combined (Select colony) and selection was conducted an additional 27 times. The coresponding base colonies were also combined and maintained for comparisons (Base). Concentration/mortality lines obtained for the Select and Base colonies after 5 and 27 selections, indicated 7and 9.2-fold differences in LC50 values, respectively. This selection response appeared inadequate to allow the resistant strain to survive field rates of azinphosmethyl, but when the resistant strain's survival was evaluated with several different bioassay methods, different conclusions were reached regarding the potential ability of the selected strain to survive field rates of azinphosmethyl.

Mode of inheritance of azinphosmethyl resistance in a laboratory - selected strain of Trioxys pallidus

Homogeneity in azinphosmethyl resistance was assessed in males of a laboratory-selected (Select-H) and susceptible (Yolo) colony of Trioxys pallidus (Hymenoptera: Aphidiidae) using a time response assay. No evidence of heterogeneity within the two colonies was found. Reciprocal crosses between the Yolo and Select-19 colonies resulted in F1 females which exhibited a semidominant response to azin...

Guthlon-reslstant parasite evaluated for Implementation

Genetic selection for resistance to pesticides has been proposed as a method for enhancing the use of parasites in integrated pest management (IPM)programs. Genetic improvementof parasites is an experimental tactic in biologicalcontrol, and a series of questions need to be resolved. First, is it possible to select parasites for resistance to pesticides? The JulyAugust 1988 issue of California A...

Toxicity of Insecticides on Trioxys Pallidus, the Walnut Aphid and the Codling Moth

The benzoylphenyl urea insect growth regulators (IGRs), diflubenzuron, alsyston, CGA 112913, UC 62644 and Thuringiensin, were tested on adult and late third instar Trioxys pallidus and first instar walnut aphids. The organophosphates, phosalone and azinphosmethyl were used as positive controls. The IGRs and Thuringiensin were not acutely toxic to adult and larval Trioxys when contact, topical a...
